With Summer Approaching before you know it and Summer Camp Sign-ups on the way, we wanted to give you a taste of the Summer Camp we are going to this year.  It will be an incredible week of connection with God and others and more fun than you can handle in a week!  Teen Camp at Woodlands is an experience all its own. Biblical values and beliefs are presented through individual quiet time, cabin devotions, Troubleshooters (group discussions on cultural issues) and chapel services. Everything is centered on the cabin unit. Teens eat, sleep and compete as cabins. This small-group format affords a greater opportunity for relationships to be developed between campers and their counselors and thus presents a greater opportunity to share Christ as the answer to today’s teen problems. Oh yeah, there’s also a healthy dose of great friends, unforgettable memories and a ton of FUN!!!

* If you think you might want to go and you want us to hold a spot for you all you have to do is register here!  Once you do that you are not officially signed-up you are just holding a spot for you.  If you have a spot held you will get an email from us and woodlands camp about how to register on their website.  Once you register you will then be asked to pay us for the camp and we will pay Woodlands for you.  To be officially registered and counted you will need to register online at woodlandscamp.org after Dec. 1st with the request code you will receive in December.  Once you pay your deposit your spot will be guaranteed.  If you have not paid by March 1st then your spot can be lost!  Don’t worry though you can reserve your spot today by clicking here!

Who Can Go?  All Rising 9th- graduated 12th grade students.   The Age is 13-18.  If you are in 8th grade in the 2011-2012 school year and want to go to our MS camp as an 8th grade leader instead please let us know.

No Other Gospel

- LanierW

Hi everyone, hope you are having a wonderful father’s day celebrating all that your dads have done for you.

The past two weeks our messages have focused on other religions presenting false ideas of who God is and who Jesus is. Last week we discussed the flaws of “Jesus and” theologies that teach the idea that what Jesus did on the cross was not enough to cover our sins. This week me moved a step further and talked about how to respond when our friends or family members start to buy in to false ideas about God. This message was not an easy one to deliver for several reasons. First and foremost this message challenged me and I came up short. As I was preparing I began thinking through all of the opportunities I have had to attempt to reconcile people with truth that I have allowed to pass by. Secondly the message requires us to look at some of the foundational truths of Christianity that are non-negotiable. Certain aspects of Christianity are open to interpretation such as the method of baptism. Some churches believe immersion is the best method while others prefer sprinkling. Believing in one or the other does not affect your relationship with God or your salvation, however at Triangle Community Church we believe that immersion is the method that is most true to scripture.

Other beliefs are not negotiable. We discussed a few of these, and while there are many more, the primary ones we discussed were as follows:

Creation- If God did not create the universe and everything in it, then the entire image of God is changed. God tells us he is the Creator and if God is a liar then He is not holy or worthy of our lives.

Divinity of Jesus- Jesus is fully God and came to earth fully man as well. If Jesus was not divine, then His life and death were inconsequential. It is because Jesus, being God in nature, lived a perfect life and died for us that we have salvation. If he were just an average Joe, His death would have been irrelevant to our salvation.

Resurrection- Jesus died and three days later rose again not just to earth, but to the heavens. This was a sign that Jesus truly was no mere man. Had the resurrection not occurred it would have shown that Jesus was not divine.

After we nailed down these core truths, we moved on to talking about how we respond to people that drift away from the faith. Looking at James 5:19-20 it is clear that God calls us to do everything we can to bring people back to their faith. In Matthew 18 Jesus tells a parable about a shepherd who leaves the bulk of his flock to find one wandering sheep. He challenges us to do the same with each other. God wants us to encourage other to remain strong in our faith and not wander.

The biggest challenge issued in this message was to consider what keeps us from talking to friends who may have strayed. If we truly care about our friends and really believe that Jesus is the only way then it only makes sense that we would make every effort to lead people towards Him. This is not to say that if you don’t convert all your friends you are not a Christian. The point of this challenge is to motivate us to act on this combination of loving our friends and faith in the gospel.

We look forward to continually issuing challenges to grow in our relationships with God and each other all summer. But for now, it’s your move.

June 25th-30th!  We will be meeting on Sat. June 25th and leaving TCC early that next am on the 26th.

Reserve your spot today by saying you will be attending. Invite as many friends as you can. There is limited space so register early so you don’t miss out!

We will meet at on Sat. Night. Have Worship, Games, Connections then get a little sleep before we load the bus about 3:30 or 4am to get to Camp by 1pm on Sunday.

Student Life summers at Lee University have been a constant since 2000. That’s because this private Christian liberal arts school is ideally situated in the historic neighborhood of Cleveland, Tenn., with facilities that Student Life Camp and Student Life Mission Camp have come to trust and enjoy. The Conn Center, for example, is a favorite among Student Life staffers when it comes to choosing a room for Evening Worship and other large-group gatherings like Morning Celebration and Late Nite. It’s also very close to the cafeteria, recreation fields, housing and camp office.

This is a week if you are a HS Student you won’t want to miss!!!
