Questions:

Where Will You Be Staying?

We have already begun assigning students into homes.  In our Middle School we have them assigned by grades and in HS it is by the people they have requested to be with.  During the week of Merge you will be contacted by your host home leaders to let you know their address and telephone number and any information you need for the weekend.  They will contact you by Wed. evening March 14th. If you have not heard from your host home leader by then please email Lanier (lward343@gmail.com) or Kevin (kevindeming@tcc.org) and we will send you their phone/email.  *Do not come to TCC with your luggage unless you can’t make it to your host home.  We don’t have room for it all!

What is the Schedule for Merge?

Check out the schedule at themerge.net.  You will arrive at your host home between 5:45-6pm on Friday March 16th.  Pick-up will be Sunday after church at 12:45pm.  If your son/daughter has to leave at any time during the weekend you will need to let your host home leaders know and provide transportation for your son/daughter.

Will I Need Extra Money?
You will also, need money for lunch on Sat. and be sure you eat before you come to the Host Home on Friday night unless they tell you otherwise. I would recommend $10-15 plus any money you would like to donate toward the missions offering on Sat. night. Some homes may provide pizza for a small fee to cover the expenses.  You also may want to buy a few things at the conference. *Be sure to bring your money on Friday night and give to your host home leader if you have not paid in full.  The cost is $50 for the weekend inculding t-shirt, & Sat. night meal.

Will there be a Service or Mission’s Emphasis During the Weekend?
Yes.  We will have 2 Major focuses for the weekend.  At Merge we really want to encourage Local Missions and Global Missions.  Our Local Missions emphasis will be with the Holly Springs Food Cupboard and our Global Missions will be with Living Water Int.  We will go Sat. afternoon and collect can goods for the Holly Springs Food Cupboard.  Also, during the weekend each of our home groups will collect an offering and money for our Global Missions. On Saturday evening each group will bring money collected upfront during our offering time.  Check out these 2 links:  Holly Springs Food Cupboard & Living Water International for more information on these ministries.

Keep up with us on Twitter

Follow us on Twitter during the weekend and stay up on what is happening!

How Can I Contact My Son/Daughter during Merge?

We strongly discourage the use of cell phones for our students during Merge as it is a distraction to the weekend.  Because of this, we will have our Host Home Family’s and Leaders phone numbers available to you to contact during the weekend.  If you follow the schedule found at themerge.net you can have a great idea of whether they are at their host home or at TCC.  Please contact your host home family for any emergency needs you will have.  If you contact Kevin or Lanier with emergency needs they will not be able to get in touch with your son/daughter until the next Big session time.  Your son/daughter will have access to use their leaders cell phones in case of emergency as well.

What Do I Need to Bring to Merge Weekend?

When packing for Merge be sure to pack the normal needs you have for a weekend away but also pack light.  You will need, toiletries, pajamas, comfortable clothes (click here for dress code), comfortable shoes for walking on Sat. afternoon, sleeping bag, pillow, towels for showers (*please take one), Bible, pens, and an attitude ready to learn.

Woodlands Teen Camp Video

With Summer Approaching before you know it and Summer Camp Sign-ups on the way, we wanted to give you a taste of the Summer Camp we are going to this year.  It will be an incredible week of connection with God and others and more fun than you can handle in a week!  Teen Camp at Woodlands is an experience all its own. Biblical values and beliefs are presented through individual quiet time, cabin devotions, Troubleshooters (group discussions on cultural issues) and chapel services. Everything is centered on the cabin unit. Teens eat, sleep and compete as cabins. This small-group format affords a greater opportunity for relationships to be developed between campers and their counselors and thus presents a greater opportunity to share Christ as the answer to today’s teen problems. Oh yeah, there’s also a healthy dose of great friends, unforgettable memories and a ton of FUN!!!

* If you think you might want to go and you want us to hold a spot for you all you have to do is register here!  Once you do that you are not officially signed-up you are just holding a spot for you.  If you have a spot held you will get an email from us and woodlands camp about how to register on their website.  Once you register you will then be asked to pay us for the camp and we will pay Woodlands for you.  To be officially registered and counted you will need to register online at woodlandscamp.org after Dec. 1st with the request code you will receive in December.  Once you pay your deposit your spot will be guaranteed.  If you have not paid by March 1st then your spot can be lost!  Don’t worry though you can reserve your spot today by clicking here!

We are so excited about our Middle School Fall Retreat coming up the weekend of November 4th-6th. It is going to be a packed weekend with great teaching from God’s word, a high-energy engaging worship atmosphere, tons of fun games, and of course our star-studded cast of interns. The theme for this year’s fall retreat is “It’s Not About Us:Pursue His Purpose.” We want to communicate to our students that life is not meant to be centered our selfish desires and ambitions. Life is about serving God and trying to follow His purpose.

Teaching our students at the fall retreat will be Jamal Quattleabaum. Jamal is from Greenville, SC and is a long time friend of the TCC youth ministry. He was a 3 year summer staffer at Look Up Lodge and has worked with several youth and young adults ministries in the Greenville area. Jamal is a truly gifted teacher that has an ability to speak truth in a powerful way. If you want to know how awesome Jamal is just ask one of the high school interns. We are grateful to have someone like him that can come in and give a fresh perspective on God’s truth.

The schedule for the weekend will be as follows:

Friday Night- 6:30-9:30

Saturday- 8:30am-6:00pm

Sunday- Church as usual!

The cost for the event is $30 which includes all meals on Saturday, snacks on Friday night, and an awesome T-shirt! To register for this event go here. We are looking forward to it and we hope to see you there!

Breakaway!

- LanierW

We have an exciting new middle school event coming up in October! On Friday, October 14th instead of gathering together at church like we do so many other times, all of our students will go to a host home for the evening to hang out with their small groups! The 6th grade boys will go to one home, the 6th grade girls to another, and so on and so forth. This will give our students a chance to hang out together in a smaller, more relaxed environment. There will be snacks, games, and lots of time to get to know everyone in your grade! Stay tuned for directions to your host homes and further details about the schedule!

If you are attending Breakaway we need you to help out with snacks and drinks. We need everyone to bring either a 2-liter soda, chips, cookies, crackers, or some other kind of snack or drink (enough to share).

Since we are doing Breakaway in October, there will be no BIG next month. We will most likely do Breakaway once a quarter and any month in which we do Breakaway we will not do BIG. Make sure to check back next week for further details, but to be sure you are getting all the updates on what we are doing at TCC please register as a parent here, and register as a 6th grade student here, a 7th grade student here, or an 8th grade student here. There is no registration or cost for Breakaway, so make sure to head to your host home on October 14th!!!
